2nd November 2011
Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe
Wind Direction: se
Wind Stength: 15/20
Surf / Sea State: big
Air Temperature: 14
Sea Temperature: 12
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 21.90 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 24.83 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

I know I had to get to The Dip fairly early as the wind was onshore and low was 9.36 and it is a nightmare to get off the beach with the tide in.So I was on the water in bright sunshine with big freeride kit at 10 and spent an hour enjoying the waves in kite beach in front of the golf course and then with the tide rising decided to beat along the coast. As I was underpowered most of the session it took awhile to get around Cobbolds Point making sure I missed the large pipes being used to pump sand onto the Fludgers beach.I made it to the Manor and came ashore at the end of the prom and after a short rest headed bake on a reach.I struggled to get planing and had to beat out to sea again to miss the pipes but once past the Fludgers was able to sail broad all the way to the shingle bar at the Deben rivermouth. I had a walk around that before heading back to The Dip, the wind was up and down now and I fell at the start of kite beach and couldn't waterstart quick enough and got pulled inbetween two groynes and then had to take my chances and swim ashore. Sadly I failed and broke the bottom section of my mast in 4 places !!!! by a huge wave, I was lucky that Daniel Woolgar had walked up to help me and he carried my board back - thanks :) So despite being abit underpowered and a broken mast it wasn't too bad a session but you really need to be there at low water !!!
Three others out including Daniel Woolgar,Simon Jam and David Coles, the first two struggled being way underpowered and David should get a freeride board and some rotational sails as 2m slalom boards and fully cammed race sails are not ideal for Felixstowe !!!
